Kimberly Pope Adams, the Democratic candidate in a central Virginia Home of Delegates race that is still uncalled by The Related Press, is searching for a recount.
Adams stated in a press release Thursday that the election outcomes, which present simply 78 votes separating Adams and GOP incumbent Kim Taylor, “are far too shut for anybody to declare outright victory.”
“The folks of the 82nd Home District should know with absolute certainty who’s the winner of this race and Virginia regulation affords them that proper. For that cause, I’m searching for a recount of the vote,” Adams stated.

Taylor, who has served within the Home since 2022, beforehand declared victory. The aggressive 82nd District covers Petersburg, Surry County and elements of Prince George and Dinwiddie counties.

Virginia doesn’t have computerized recounts. Candidates can request, and pay for, recounts if the margin between the highest two candidates is 1 proportion level or much less. Recounts are paid for by the federal government if the margin is lower than 0.5 proportion factors.
