A freight practice derailed on Friday close to the Arizona-New Mexico border, halting site visitors alongside Interstate 40 as the world recovers from extreme climate within the area.
The New Mexico State Police mentioned that they responded, alongside a number of different companies, to the freight practice splayed out alongside the interstate on Friday night.
“NMSP is on the scene of a practice derailment together with a number of different companies on Interstate 40 milepost 8 close to the Arizona border,” the division mentioned in a press launch.

The company mentioned that there have been no studies of accidents – regardless of the practice’s derailment in proximity to the busy interstate.
Authorities mentioned that the practice was carrying gasoline and non-odorized propane and promptly lit on fireplace.

The NMSP mentioned that the interstate was closed in all instructions as companies labored to extinguish the hearth.

“I-40 is closed in all instructions in Arizona and New Mexico,” the division mentioned. “In New Mexico, site visitors is being diverted at I-40 exit 20 westbound onto U.S. 491 to State Street 264 to Ganado, to Freeway 191. In Arizona, site visitors is diverted in Chambers onto Freeway 191 to Ganado Arizona State Street 264 to U.S. 491.”
