As US and Chinese language protection chiefs meet in Singapore, consideration shifts to rising tensions over Taiwan’s future.
Protection chiefs from the Asia-Pacific area are in Singapore to debate safety challenges within the area.
The three-day summit, referred to as the Shangri-La Dialogue, attracts high-level ministers, army leaders and world safety analysts.
The emphasis will likely be on overseas coverage, with delicate diplomatic discussions happening behind closed doorways.
However relations between the world’s two superpowers – China and the USA – are already frosty. Beijing has warned Washington in opposition to interfering in its affairs after their protection ministers met to debate Taiwan.
Whereas that relationship reveals no indicators of thawing, others are looking for frequent floor.
