Telegram CEO Arrested at French Airport

Telegram director Pavel Durov has been arrested by French police at an airport north of Paris.

Mr Durov was arrested after his personal jet landed at Le Bourget airport, French media reported.

In line with officers, the 39-year-old billionaire was arrested on a warrant for offenses associated to the favored messaging app.

The investigation would deal with the dearth of moderators. Mr. Durov wouldn’t have taken measures to stop legal use of Telegram.

Mr. Durov was born in Russia and lives in Dubai. He holds twin citizenship of the United Arab Emirates and France.

Telegram is very standard in Russia, Ukraine and the previous Soviet Union.

The app was banned in Russia in 2018 after Mr Durov beforehand refused at hand over consumer information. However the ban was overturned in 2021.
