A person sporting a faux badge compelled his means into a lady’s lodge room in Orlando, Florida and robbed her at gunpoint, police mentioned.

Based on a launch from the Orlando Police Division, authorities had been known as to a lodge alongside a busy stretch within the Sunshine State crammed with trip resorts on Aug. 23.

A lady instructed police that an unknown man, sporting a “badge” round his neck, claimed to be a police officer and compelled entry into her room. The sufferer instructed police that the suspect restrained her in handcuffs and stole her pockets whereas displaying what seemed to be a handgun in his waistband.

The lady’s account was corroborated by surveillance footage from the lodge, which confirmed the suspect arrival on the lodge flooring and a closeup of his faux badge.

Utilizing the surveillance footage, police recognized 27-year-old Michael Darren Jesse Rodriguez because the suspect.

Authorities mentioned that this was not Rodriguez’s first stunt, with the 27-year-old performing related robberies at a Days Inn in Miami Springs and in Lantana, Florida.

On Sept. 8, 2024, the Gwinnett County Police Division in Georgia apprehended Rodriguez whereas driving the identical automobile linked to the Orlando and Lantana incidents.

Detectives in Orlando traveled to Georgia to look the suspect’s autos, they usually recovered a faux police badge, handcuffs, and extra proof associated to each circumstances.

Orlando police obtained an arrest warrant for Rodriguez, and he was arrested on Oct. 2.
