Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL), through its Fintech subsidiary FlyHub, today announced a five-year partnership with Refactory, a training academy providing alternative industry-led skills services for the technology sector.
The partnership signed in Kampala will help local business leaders, entrepreneurs, government and civil society organizations gain strategic support and skills to enable them to guide their respective businesses through the digitization process.
FlyHub Chief Executive Joel Muhumuza said business leaders will take tailored training modules through a series of Masterclasses to help them understand how best to manage their teams as they invest in IT assets.
Business leaders who will participate in the training will receive trial access to digital software development services from FlyHub and Refactory before deciding to formally engage for expert support.
“Through the masterclasses, this collaboration will help demystify what digital transformation means for businesses by creating a toolkit that allows institutions and individuals to self-assess and see where to start and what potential tools they need to move to the next step. level.
With this information, participants can either choose to find suitable solutions from the market for themselves, or engage FlyHub and Refractory to build and deploy the desired solutions in their respective organizations,” said Muhumuza.
Michael Niyitegeka, the program director at Refactory, said: “We are delighted to enter into this partnership with Stanbic Uganda and very much look forward to working with FlyHub to support business leaders and individuals as they navigate their digital transformation journeys.”
In addition to designing the masterclasses, FlyHub and Refactory will collaborate in developing toolkits that will be available for all Stanbic Uganda Holdings clients to use when exploring their respective organization’s readiness for digital transformation.
Driving Uganda’s digital transformation agenda
Andrew Mashanda, SUHL’s Chief Executive, said the partnership with Refactory is inline
with Stanbic Uganda’s goal to boost Uganda’s growth.
“The collaboration will create industry-relevant tools to accelerate the pace of digital transformation
in line with Uganda’s National Development Plan “Vision 2040” and The National ICT Digital
Uganda Vision, both of which are relevant to Stanbic Holdings’ vision of becoming a platform
company using digital technology to improve and leverage the overall customer experience
new ecosystems,” says Mashanda.
Digital transformation is when business processes, culture and customer experiences are changed with the use of new digital technologies in a customer-centric way, where every aspect of
processes are being overhauled to create the ultimate digital experience for everyone.
While government and private sector leaders realize that digital transformation is essential to the development of the country, there is a clear lack of understanding of exactly where to start, what tools are appropriate to use and how to make wise investments in the right technology when they just want to focus on their business.
“On top of limited technical know-how, there are genuine concerns about cybersecurity, data protection and the high cost of high-tech that comes with the ability to use digital technology; wading into this unaccompanied can be a big challenge and we hope this partnership with Refactory will be of great help,” added Muhumuza.
At least four targeted Masterclasses will be organized – one per quarter for the next five years, with each intake targeting at least two dozen business leaders. The training courses are tailored to the actual needs of the participants.
