California, United States.
The Honduran National Team learned its way through the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup this Friday after the draw for the group stage that took place at the SoFi Stadium, in Inglewood, California, United States, and which led to great confrontations.
With the Bicolor coach, Diego Vázquez, in the front row and the historic Honduran scorer Carlos Pavón participating in the draw, Honduras was squared in the ‘group of death’, group B, along with Mexico, Haiti and Qatar (guest of the Concacaf).
The Catracha team will relive that great duel against an archrival such as Mexico and will face off again with the Qatari squad, which beat them 0-2 in the 2021 edition of the most important tournament in our region.
In Group A, the United States, current champion of the tournament after defeating Mexico in the final of the 2021 edition, will face Jamaica, Nicaragua and the winner of preliminary 9.
In Group C, the teams from Costa Rica, Panama and El Salvador star in a Central American zone. They will be joined by the winner of preliminary 9.
Finally, Canada will start as the rival to beat in a group D that also includes Guatemala, Cuba and a combination of the preliminary rounds.
The first two places in each group will advance to the final phase.
SoFi Stadium, which hosted the Super Bowl in 2022 and where the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers usually play their NFL games, will be the venue for the final.
