Although the authorities have not given further details of how and when Honduras would be joining the satellite network, a source linked to the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) made known to THE PRESS that since November 2022 the Space X company had the last approach with Honduran authorities to provide satellite internet service in the country.
“They want to be a satellite provider for private companies, but also in their plan is to be able to offer the issue of satellite internet connection in homes at a low cost,” said the source.
He added that the last meeting they had was in November, in which the Conatel authorities told them that in order to make an agreement the company had to be incorporated as a company in the country.

“They looked for us, the meeting was in November, we sent them all the requirements, we told them that we were going to accompany them throughout the technical and legal process, but we never heard from them again, I imagine that now through relationships diplomats have had more communication.”
The source explained that in order for them to provide satellite internet service in the country, they have to establish themselves as a company, “which is one of the requirements requested by Conatel. After that, the agreement is quick, they enter it and in about ten days the agreement to exploit the satellite service is already given, ”he explained.
Last October, Foreign Minister Reina, through his Twitter, indicated that the company Space X offered to support Honduras in internet connection for schools and health centers.
