A couple who avoided a police vehicle control were chased through the streets of Lanús until the driver lost control and hit a light pole. The agents managed to stop them and discovered that the car in which the detainees – a man and a woman – were mobilizing had an arrest warrant for a robbery in March 2019.
The pair that fled was traveling aboard a gray Renault 9, when at the intersection of Hipólito Irigoyen and Manuel Quindimil streets in Lanús Oeste, traffic personnel told the driver to stop to ask for his identification and request vehicle documentation.
It was at that moment that the car evaded control and accelerated, for which a fierce chase immediately began, which was followed through the cameras of the municipal Monitoring Center.
The pursuit in Lanús ended when the driver hit a light pole.
After a bolt operation by the PRI (Immediate Response Patrol), the driver tried to brake to turn to his right, but lost control of the car and hit a light pole located on Avenida San Martín and Manuel Castro.
The detainee was identified as Ariel Marcelo L. (40 years old).
The occupants of the car tried to run away, but were quickly caught by police personnel, who verified that the Renault 9 had an active seizure order for theft since March 2019.
The detained woman, who was co-pilot of the car that hit the fleeing pole, was identified as Daniela Soledad Z. (32 years old).
The man and his companion were identified as Ariel Marcelo L. (40) and Daniela Soledad Z. (32) both were taken to the Lanús 1st police station.

A 16-year-old teenager died and two other detainees was the result of another persecution in the Buenos Aires town of Lanús in the first days of March of this year, where the criminals tried to escape in a car that they had just stolen and shot at each other with the Police.
The sequence began on Potosí street, in the direction of Coronel Warnes, in the area known as Villa Jardín. It was in that place that agents of the 5th police station. and the Local Prevention Police Unit (UPPL), who were carrying out an operation on a motorcycle, saw a Volkswagen Voyage occupied by four young people.
Noticing the police presence, the car began to speed up. Then, the troops turned on the beacons and sirens so that the suspects would stop on the side of the street. Far from stopping, they fled and that’s how the chase began.
From inside the car, the teenagers began to shoot at the agents, according to reports to the Télam news agency. Upon reaching the corner of the Lomas Valentina and Aristóbulo del Valle passage, they collided with a parked vehicle.
For this reason, they did not give up their attempt to escape: they got out of the car and one of them continued shooting. The policemen answered with their regulation weapons and, in that exchange of bullets, one of the criminals was fatally shot in the abdomen. The teenager was identified as Agustín Guerrero, 16 years old.
The victim of the theft of the vehicle was a 41-year-old Paraguayan who works as a driver for a travel application and who had already filed a complaint at the Lanús Third Police Station. As he explained, he had taken the four young people from the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Parque Patricios to Lanús, where he was robbed at the end of the journey.
