But the money instead went to Walker’s personal business, HR Talent, The Daily Beast reported.

Herschel Walker, the former NFL running back who led a failed senate campaign in Georgia, received $535,200 in political contributions that were transferred to his personal company, That reported The Daily Beast.

Walker received the amount intended for his 2022 Senate campaign from his friend, billionaire Dennis Washington, the outlet reported Wednesday.

Washington transferred the money to Walker on the assumption that it was a political contribution, The Daily Beast reported, citing emails between Washington staff and Walker’s campaign.

But the money was deposited into an account of HR Talent, a company owned by Walker that was never disclosed in its financial statements, The Daily Beast reported.

In 2014, Walker hosted two talent shows in rural Georgia called ‘Herschel’s Raw Talent’. That reports the New York Times.

Because the $535,200 was in HR Talent, they were legally useless to Walker’s campaign. When Washington staff learned of this, they contacted Walker asking if the money could be sent to a super-PAC backing the then-GOP candidate, The Daily Beast reported.

“We need your help getting past contributions to the HR Talent account corrected in March,” Tim McHugh, executive vice president of the Washington Companies, wrote to Walker’s campaign in November, according to The Daily Beast.

from Walker Federal Election Commission filings showing that he never moved the $535,200 to a super PAC that supported his campaign.

The Daily Beast noted that it is possible that Walker could have returned the money to Washington. Insider could not immediately verify whether the money was returned to Washington or whether it is still in Walker’s account.
