BEIRUT (AP) — A drone strike believed to have been carried out by the US-led coalition in northern Syria on Friday killed a man associated with the Islamic State and wounded a passerby, a paramedic group and a war observer from the Syrian government said. opposition.

Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, said the man was killed while riding a motorcycle. It added that a passerby was also injured.
Rami Abdurrahman, head of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the man targeted by the drone was a militant linked to the Islamic State terror group. The observatory said the attack took place on the road connecting the town of al-Bab to the village of Bazaa.
The US-led coalition has for years targeted militants linked to al-Qaeda and IS.
In May, the US military said it was investigating reports that it had killed a civilian earlier that month in an attack in northwestern Syria targeting a senior al-Qaeda leader.
On any given day, there are at least 900 US troops in Syria, along with an unknown number of contractors, working with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces. In another part of Syria, an accident on the road between the central city of Homs and the historic city of Palmyra killed 16 people, including women and children, according to the state news agency SANA. It said the bodies have been transferred to hospitals in central Homs province.
