Shutting off his tenant’s water due to constant rent arrears cost the life of a homeowner at the Colonial Acres mobile home park in Pinewood, Miami-Dade County.
The alleged perpetrator of the crime, a man identified as Leonardo Pablo Mora, 64, was arrested by the police, and confessed to the murder.
Mora was the tenant of the place.
The detainee told detectives, who arrested him shortly after midnight on Sunday, April 23, that he would have murdered the owner of the trailer home after an argument that later turned into a fistfight, because he was angry after the owner from the mobile home will shut off your water supply.
Mora told officers that during the fight he picked up a firearm and shot the man once in the upper abdomen. The victim has not been identified. The events occurred in the area of Northwest 10 Avenue and 96 Street, according to the police arrest report.
After being taken into custody, Mora was transferred to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where corrections officers booked him around 2:30 a.m. last Sunday.
Mora appeared Monday, April 24, before Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy S. Glazer, who denied him bail and found probable cause for charges of second-degree murder with a weapon and concealed carry of a firearm.
According to Miami-Dade court records, in 2001, Mora was arrested for public drinking, and in 2008, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Prosecutors dropped both cases. Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Milton Hirsch will preside over the new murder case.
