This is Mario Andrés Giménez, alias “Chony”. There are still two fugitives for the murder of Fernando Francovich.

The Police arrested this Tuesday a third suspect in the crime of Fernando Francovich, the Chaco truck driver who was shot to death by criminals last March while driving in Concepción del Bermejo. There are still two fugitives.

The defendant, identified as Mario Andrés Giménez, alias “Chony”, was arrested this Tuesday at the corner of 9th and 10th streets, in the city of Sáenz Peña, by agents of the Complex Investigations Division of that jurisdiction.

Police spokesmen reported that the detectives had deployed an operation at different points, before a possible meeting between “Chony” Giménez and a lawyer. He was finally captured when he was driving a Chevrolet S truck, which would belong to his brother.

Giménez is the third detainee in the case for the crime of the trucker, since Celestino and Carlos Alfredo Cárdenas were previously arrested. “It is one more step, an advance in the cause,” said Mónica Corniali, the victim’s mother, in dialogue with Télam.

However, he warned: “Let’s not forget that there are still two fugitives and we also have inconclusive results or without the results of all the DNA, ballistic tests, opening of the telephones, so we are waiting for those results, of those tests.”

In this sense, he added: “I also insist that there are more people turning around here, not only these three people detained at the moment. There are more people turning around within this gang of criminals that had been operating for some time, who acted with impunity, where we also know that there may be police involved”.

“So we have to continue in the fight so that justice is done for all the people who acted, who murdered Fernando. We are not going to loosen up, we are going to continue doing everything in our power and we do not care if there are people heavy or not behind everything”, closed.

The crime of Fernando Francovich, the Chaco trucker who was shot to death

Fernando Francovich was 33 years old, lived in Villa Ocampo, Santa Fe and was a truck driver. On March 21, after making three deliveries as part of a trip to Chaco, he was intercepted by a gang of assailants moving in three trucks near the town of Avia Terai, on Route 16.

It is not clear if they wanted his truck, or the 300,000 pesos he had charged for freight, or both. The concrete thing is that Fernando resisted and received three 9-millimeter shots in the legs and one in the shoulder. Plus a recoil to his head.

Fernando Francovich was assassinated on Tuesday, March 21 at 3:00 p.m. in Chaco when they tried to steal his collection.

Fernando, wounded and bloodied, started up his Scania G-360 with a trailer. He drove eight kilometers and stopped at a service station. He tried to call for help, but he vanished before the beachgoers. Within seconds, one of the gang’s vans appeared. A member got out and approached the truck. The sequence was recorded on the security cameras of the place. Then they fled.

“We believe that he went in to look for a weapon that had been lost during the incident,” Corniali says. The 300 thousand pesos were found in the truck. They had blood stains. The fact is being investigated by the prosecutor Gustavo Valero, from the Sáenz Peña Prosecutor’s Office 4.

The truck in question is a Ford Ranger. According to records, its owner would be the wife of the mayor of General Pinedo, Franco Ciucci. Since last November the truck has had a circulation ban due to a complaint of sale. In other words, the person who bought it never made the transfer.
