A woman who was abandoned by her husband after suddenly growing a beard says her facial hair is now her best feature.
Mandeep Kaur had never had facial hair before she married her ex-husband in 2012. However, a few years after her marriage, things suddenly changed when she developed facial hair.
Due to this condition her husband asked her for a divorce and Mandeep fell into depression.
To deal with her mental health, to accept her new features, and to cope with her husband’s rejection, Mandeep began attending a Gurdwara, a place of worship among Sikhs.
Since then, she has been blessed by Guru Sahib. Thanks to his teachings, Mandeep learned to accept her beard. Now it has become the image of a motorcycle brand.
Mandeep, from Punjab, India works alongside her brothers in agriculture.
Mandeep is not the only woman who has embraced facial hair. Harnaam Kaur, from Slough, has previously told how she learned to accept the facial hair that started growing when she was 11.
After being diagnosed with PCOS at the age of 12, Harnaam had two waxing sessions a week for four years before making the decision to grow her beard.
For The Mirror, she said that one day, after the waxing sessions, she made the decision to accept herself as she is. Since then, Harnaam has become popular on social media and has been featured in Vogue Japan, Teen Vogue and Cosmo India, and has even given a TED Talk.
