Accident on the set of “Gladiator”, several members are injured

An accident on the set of the other film Gladiator – the sequel to the Oscar winner for best picture from 2000 – injured many of the staff involved in the production.

“During the filming of a scheduled sequence, an accident occurred during which several crew members suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” a Paramount Pictures spokesperson said in a statement to CNN on Saturday.

“The security and full medical services teams on site were able to act quickly so that those affected received the necessary care immediately. They are all in a stable condition and continue to receive treatment,” the statement continued.

A total of six people received treatment for burns after the accident, which happened on the film’s set in Morocco.

“The welfare of the cast and staff is of the utmost importance to us and we have strict health and safety procedures in place in all our productions. We will continue to monitor the situation and take all necessary precautions as we resume production,” the Paramount spokesperson added in a statement.

The sequel to “Gladiator” is being made by Ridley Scott, who directed the first film. That film starred Russell Crowe, who won an Academy Award for Best Actor for the role.

The new film will welcome back Gladiator cast members Connie Nielsen and Derek Jacobi, and feature franchise newcomers Paul Mescal , Pedro Pascal Denzel Washington and the star of “Stranger Things 4” Joseph Quinn .

The film is scheduled to release in November 2024.
