Alan Arkin, an American actor who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2006 family comedy-drama Little Miss Sunshine, has passed away. He turned 89.
“Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and as a human being,” said the actor’s three sons.

Alan Arkin, an American actor who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the 2006 family comedy-drama Little Miss Sunshine, has passed away, a representative confirmed to CBC News. He turned 89.
His sons Adam, Matthew and Anthony Arkin also confirmed their father’s death in a statement on Friday. “Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and as a human being,” they said.
A cause of death was not shared.
