The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, stated today that the authorities are working to release the policemen kidnapped on Wednesday by the Serbian forces.
The head of the government of Kosovo invited the international factor to condemn the aggression of Serbia.
Kurti said that next week it is expected that Ambassador Jetish Jashari, who is the head of the liaison office in Belgrade, will visit the kidnapped policemen.
“We are doing everything for them to be released as soon as possible, intact, while on the other hand we invite the international factor to condemn the aggression of Serbia on June 14, where their military and police units kidnapped our policemen, the anti-terrorist unit and the Cobra of the army, our three policemen in Leposaviq, who were right next to a closed illegal smuggling route. In all likelihood, based on the news we have, at the beginning of next week, Ambassador Jetish Jashari, who is otherwise the head of the liaison office in Belgrade, will be able to visit these three policemen”, said Kurti.
Asked by KosovaPress if he will participate in the meeting called by the high representative of the EU for foreign policy, Josep Borrell for the meeting in Brussels, Kurti refused to answer.
On Wednesday, three border officials were kidnapped by Serbian forces during a patrol on the border line in northern Kosovo. The police have announced that the police unit has been on duty deep within the territory of Kosovo to prevent the use of illegal roads. The three policemen kidnapped by Serbian forces on Friday (June 16) have been remanded in custody. Meanwhile, the United States of America, Great Britain, and Germany have called for the immediate release of three Kosovo police officers, arrested in the north by Serbian forces.
