Many Americans have a go-to thing – a cultural custom, a piece of iconography, whatever – when they think of Europe.YOU/a bored pigeon recently early the folks at Reddit, “Americans, what’s most European?” The answers are fascinating, and maybe the Europeans out there have some of their own:1.“The sirens that go BEEE booo BEEE booo BEEE booo BEEE booo.”2.“Men in speedos on the beach or in a pool. The ones you see in the US are mostly Europeans on vacation.”3.“Walkable Cities.”4.“Fly to Florida and think you can easily drive to Los Angeles, NYC and Chicago.”5.‘Sitting for hours talking in a restaurant. Half an hour of talking to anyone and I’m done. For the month.’6.“Good bread.”7.“Their attitude towards work. The vibe I get when I visit most European countries is that most people seem to only work to live. In the United States, it feels like we live to work. The most common from the mouth of an American when meeting someone new is ‘What are you doing?’ I didn’t find this to be the case in Europe, and I’m super jealous.”8.“Complain about Americans.”9.“Restaurants pay employees a fair wage and don’t expect the customer to make up for the low wage.”10.“Maternity leave.”11.“Drinking cappuccino on a cobbled street outside a cafe, which is hundreds of years old.”12.“Vespas.”13.“Thinking 100 miles is a long distance. I once spoke to a Briton who said they hadn’t seen their parents in two years because it was a long journey…it was two hours away…”14.“Getting sick without going bankrupt.”15.“Bidets.”16.“Roundabouts.”17.“Extra tight clothing from Armani Exchange (or similar brand).”18.“Castles.”19.“Calling Arkansas ‘Ar-KANSAS’.”20.“No ice in your drinks.”Agree?
