Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez argued that there is a crime spree within the Republican Party, citing former President Donald Trump’s indictment and controversy over Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.
“I admit it’s very hard to see a path in the Republican Party that refuses to hold itself accountable, and is actually breaking the law itself,” Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., said on CNN.
“The crime wave is within the Republican Party. It’s in everyone… what we’re seeing, we’ve seen, we’re seeing, the breaking of the law by conservative members of the court. We’re seeing a former president of the United States just indicted in recent days, I mean, we have to hold our systems accountable,” she said.
Trump was indicted on 34 counts of falsifying first-degree business documents in a Manhattan court. The charges come after prosecutors investigated hush money payments the former president allegedly made to film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.
