At least four people were killed in a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico, police said, including the gunman, with “several” civilian casualties.

Police in Farmington, New Mexico said Monday afternoon an incident involving an “active shooter” resulted in three deaths and at least two law enforcement officers injured. Officials say there are “multiple” civilian casualties.

In a statement, police said a Farmington Police Department officer and a New Mexico State Police officer were shot and are being treated at a local hospital.

“Farmington Police Department, San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Mexico State Police are on the scene investigating an incident involving an active gunman in Farmington. At this time, we have details that multiple officers from the Farmington Police Department are involved were with an officer was involved in a shooting. One suspect was confronted at the scene and killed. The suspect’s identity is unknown and no other threats are known at this time. Two officers were shot, one from the Farmington Police Department and one of the New Mexico State Police, both are currently being treated at San Juan Regional Medical Center for their injuries and are in stable condition. There are multiple civilian casualties with at least 3 dead,” police said.
