ATLANTA — An Atlanta rapper signed to Young Thug’s record label has been arrested and charged with murder over his suspected role in the fatal shooting of a man outside an apartment complex.
Atlanta police said Saturday that 20-year-old Jakobe Moody, known as FN DaDealer, has been taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of a firearm while committing a felony in the June 5 shooting, WSB reported. TV.
According to prison records, Moody was being held without bail at the Fulton County Jail. Moody’s mother told WSB she thought it was a case of mistaken identity. She said the family was hiring a lawyer and planned to make a statement later this week.
Tremaine Glasper, 28, was found on June 5 with multiple gunshot wounds in a car at an apartment complex. Police said at the time they were looking for three suspects in the shooting.
Moody is not listed as one of the defendants in the extortion trial for Young Thug. Jury selection in that trial is expected to resume this month.
The trial of Young Thug and 13 others is expected to take six to nine months.
Prosecutors have said that Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, is a founder of a criminal street gang called Young Slime Life, or YSL, and that he and others have committed numerous crimes to advance the gang’s interests. Defense attorneys have said that YSL is just another record label, Young Stoner Life, and their clients have done no wrong.
