The Association of Bars and Restaurants-Nightlife (Asobares-VN) of San Pedro Sula on Wednesday asked the Government of Honduras to apply a curfew by sectors and not in general for the entire city.
The owners of bars and restaurants argue that in order to maintain the economic rhythm of the people of Sampedranos, provide for the livelihood of the families of our citizens, we recommend to the central government that the curfew be applied under a sectorization criterion, ”said Asobares- VN in a statement.
They also ask the Government to allow normality in the economic, social and security development of San Pedro Sula.
The Honduran government decreed the previous weekend a curfew in Choloma from 9:00 pm to 4:00 am after the massacre of 13 people in a pool hall in the Victoria neighborhood. This same curfew will be applied in San Pedro Sula as of July 4, 2023.
The entrepreneurs of the nightlife businesses recalled that they have already been affected by the torpical storms Eta and Iota, and two years of the covid-19 pandemic.
“This closure (curfew) will become the tombstone for many of us who have had to survive all of the above, plus the bank economic burden for financing, salary and rent payments without operating for all that time,” they said.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Cortés (CCIC) yesterday requested the Minister of Security, Gustavo Sánchez, that the curfew start from 12 midnight and not from 9:00 pm.
