President Biden denied that his family received more than $1 million in payments in 2017 from bills related to Hunter Biden’s business partner Rob Walker and their Chinese business ventures, though financial records indicate otherwise.

On Thursday, GOP lawmakers revealed on the House Oversight Committee that they obtained banking documents showing that Hunter Biden, the brother of the president Jim, and Hallie Biden, the widow of his son Beau, received payments from Hunter’s business partner Rob Walker and their joint venture. with the Chinese energy company CEFC. A spokesperson for Hunter Biden’s legal team confirmed the payments Thursday, but stressed that the recipients’ accounts “belonged to Hunter, his uncle, and Hallie — no one else.”

However, Biden denied the payments had been made when confronted by a reporter on the White House lawn on Friday.

“That’s not true,” the president said when asked about the GOP lawmakers’ findings.

Financial records subpoenaing Bank of America Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., say otherwise.

The records showed that on March 1, 2017, less than two months after then Vice President Joe Biden left office, State Energy HK Limited, a separate Chinese company, transferred $3 million to Robinson Walker, LLC.

“The next day, Robinson Walker, LLC transferred $1,065,000 to the European Energy and Infrastructure Group in Abu Dhabi, a company affiliated with James Gilliar,” said a memo from the committee.

Gilliar was a business associate of Hunter Biden involved in his foreign business ventures.

“After the Robinson Walker, LLC account received $3 million from State Energy HK Limited, Biden family members and their businesses began receiving incremental payments over a period of approximately three months,” the memo states. “Recipients of the money included Hallie Biden, companies associated with Hunter Biden and James Biden, and an unknown bank account identified as ‘Biden.'”

Republican lawmakers say they are investigating whether the Biden family used Joe Biden’s former position as vice president to make lucrative deals with foreigners.

The White House did not deny the findings in a statement, but quashed the committee’s investigation into the Biden family.

“Following a disgusting attack complaining that the president’s late son, Beau, was never prosecuted in his lifetime, Congressman Comer has now decided to go after Beau’s widow,” White House spokesman Ian Sams said. comments Comer made earlier this month about Beau Biden’s belated campaign contributions.

Hunter Biden’s legal team accused Republicans of promoting a “baseless right-wing conspiracy theory” while confirming that the payments had been made.

“Hunter Biden, a private individual with every right to pursue his own business endeavours, has been seeking a joint venture with a private, legitimate energy company in China along with several business partners,” the spokesman said. “As part of that joint venture, Hunter received his share of seed capital funds in good faith, which he shared with his uncle, James Biden, and Hallie Biden, with whom he was involved at the time, and shared the cost.”
