Ireland applauded Biden as he made his entrance to a song by the Dropkick Murphys on Friday.
The president came out to the song “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” in Ballina, Ireland.
The band’s frontman once called Trump the “greatest con artist” in history.
There was a certain meaning to the song President Joe Biden chose as he walked onto a stage in Ballina, Ireland, to cheers on Friday.
The hard hitting punk song ‘I’m Shipping to Boston’ by the band Dropkick Murphys is an Irish-American folk song that is loved in both countries. Ballina is a town in Mayo County where Biden’s family is from.
But there may also have been a subtle jab at former President Donald Trump, Biden’s potential opponent in the next presidential election.
Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey is known for his opinion of the former president.
At a show last September in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Casey Trump unleashed, called him the “biggest scammer” in history.
“You are being conned by the greatest con artist in the history of the world. You are being conned by a bunch of con artists and billionaires who don’t care about you or your family,” Casey told the crowd.
In Ireland, after Biden took the stage and the song faded, he began his speech by saying to the audience, “Mary, I see the light.”
The comment referred to an Irish tradition of putting a light in the window so that strangers can have a guide when traveling at night. Boston. com reported.
His speech in Ballina marked the end of a four-day tour of Irelandincluding visits to meaningful places of interest his family’s heritage.
