The Secretary of the American Department of State, Antony Blinken, has welcomed the agreement of Kosovo and Serbia on the act of implementation of the agreement of February 27, saying that the fulfillment of the obligations of Kosovo and Serbia according to the basic agreement, as part of the continuous commitment to reconciliation, will provide significant opportunities for the people of both countries and will accelerate their path to membership in the European Union.
Blinken’s media statement states that the United States welcomes the agreement reached by Kosovo and Serbia through the facilitation of the European Union for the implementation of their February 27 Agreement on the path to normalization of relations.
“We congratulate the President of Serbia and the Prime Minister of Kosovo for their leadership in reaching this agreement. Fulfilling the obligations of Kosovo and Serbia under the Framework Agreement, as part of the ongoing commitment to reconciliation, will provide significant opportunities for the people of both countries and accelerate their path to membership in the European Union. The United States will remain actively engaged, in coordination with EU partners, to support Serbia and Kosovo in the functioning of implementation in pursuit of a predictable and peaceful relationship. We will continue to support the advancement of stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans. We thank the EU for facilitating the talks and the Government of North Macedonia for hosting the parties and supporting the finalization of this agreement”, said Blinken.
