The winner of a $2.8 million Jays Care Foundation jackpot has been found after a week-long search, Toronto’s Blue Jays charity arm said Tuesday.

The winning song was announced on May 1, but so far no one had come forward to claim the prize.

Various media reported about the missing prize winner. It took Blue Jay fans and media outlets a week to finally find the winner, Deb, who calls herself “the number one Blue Jays fan,” the foundation said in an email.

The resident of the Hamilton area bought 250 tickets for $100 at the stadium on April 11. One of those tickets had the winning number.

According to Jays Care, an amount matching the jackpot will also be invested in the foundation’s programs across Ontario to make sport and exercise more accessible to children and youth.
