Robbery, escape, pursuit, two shootings and the help of a motorist. Those were the seasonings of the arrest of a criminal who stole this Friday a truck in the Buenos Aires town of Castelar, Morón district, and who was captured in Ciudadela. He received three bullet wounds and was hospitalized in reserved condition.
It all started when two armed assailants traveling in a gray Volkswagen Bora intercepted the driver of a black Amarok pickup and stole his vehicle, at 800 España Street.
The victim alerted 911 about the crime and agents from the 7th police station. de Morón deployed a lock operation to capture the criminals, who fled towards the West Access.
A patrol car that was traveling through the area got on the highway, in the direction of the City of Buenos Aires. and found the stolen truck. It was then that the persecution began.
The criminals descended on the descent that leads to a hypermarket, already in the town of Ciudadela, and collided with a Peugeot Partner utility truck, which in turn impacted with a bus on line 161.
After the crash, the assailants got out of the truck and started shooting at the police, who responded to the attack in the same way, thus unleashing a shootout.
The thieves tried to run away and, upon climbing a pedestrian bridge, again had an armed confrontation with one of the police officers.
The criminals then got off the bridge and fled in the opposite directions. For his part, the policeman began to chase one of them. As the assailant had gotten quite a distance away, the sergeant asked a passing motorist to give him a ride.
Thanks to the help of the motorist, the police officer managed to arrest the 27-year-old thief, who lives in the Ejército de Los Andes neighborhood, popularly known as Fuerte Apache.
The young man had suffered two bullet wounds to the abdomen and a brush to his right leg, for which minutes later he was transferred consciously in an ambulance to the Carrillo hospital, where he underwent surgery and was admitted in a reserved state.
Meanwhile, the police searched the area where the persecution took place and, at the intersection of 9 de Julio and Pueyrredón, they found a Bersa long .22 caliber pistol, with a projectile in the charger.
The Functional Instruction Unit (UFI) 2 of the Morón Judicial Department is involved in the case.
