The family of a Chicago baby who was killed after two teens allegedly crashed into a stolen car is speaking out after the minors were only charged with offenses related to the deadly collision.
Six-month-old Cristian Uvidia died of his injuries after the collision on Sunday. The 14 and 17-year-old suspects allegedly stole a car and crashed into a pickup truck that was transporting the baby and other family members.
Uvidia’s aunt, Annelisse Rivera, denounced Cook County Attorney Kim Foxx and other officials involved in the investigation, while issuing a stark warning to other families as crime continues to rise in the Windy City.

“I want to know how you (Foxx) sleep at night, see my cousin’s picture on the screen, how you can see his face and think his life meant nothing at all,” Rivera said on “Fox & Friends” on Tuesday. “You sprinkle salt on our wounds. You don’t bring us justice, and even if you do something, we’ll never get our baby back. Never. There is no real justice.’
“This is definitely something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, honestly… it’s not a question of if this is going to happen to another kid, it’s when,” she continued. “This is a daily occurrence in Chicago.”
Two Chicago teens are facing felony charges after they allegedly stole a car and crashed into a truck carrying 6-month-old Cristian Uvidia. The child died of his injuries.
The accident was captured on surveillance video by local resident Shawn Walker. “The baby wasn’t breathing, so we started CPR,” Walker told Fox News 32. “My main thing was that we were able to give the baby a heartbeat back.”
The collision also injured three other passengers, aged 34, 17 and 7, who were treated at Stroger Hospital and are expected to make a full recovery.
Both teens were charged with misdemeanor criminal offenses related to the hit-and-run, though officials could increase the charges after the investigation is complete.
“It’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s really the biggest slap on the wrist, but a slap in the face for us completely,” Rivera said. “I don’t know if the people who filed this suit have children, but I think anyone, even without children, can understand that this is wrong.”

“We are as confused as the City of Chicago about why this is happening,” she continued. It’s really disheartening, and it’s really disturbing.”
Rivera said the family has not yet been contacted by Foxx or the police in connection with the case. She accused Foxx of having as much “blood on her hands” as the perpetrators who crashed the stolen car.
“It’s been a week. We haven’t been contacted by the police or the district attorney as far as I know,” Rivera said. “It’s really, really disappointing, and it just doesn’t make sense… There isn’t even justice for the person whose car they stole. Criminal trespass? What, did they break into the car? It makes absolutely no sense.”
“It’s beyond me, and I think the prosecutor has as much blood on her hands as the people who did this,” she continued.
