Madrid Spain.
It was an open secret and today it has been confirmed. Honduran striker Antony ‘Choco’ Lozano, free after ending his contract with Cádiz, became Getafe’s new footballer this Saturday for the next three seasons, until 2026, according to the Madrid club.
“Getafe has reached an agreement with Antony ‘Choco’ Lozano until 2026. The Honduran soccer player arrives as a free agent after ending his relationship with Cádiz,” says the statement from the Azulón team on its website.
The Madrid club also confirms that the presentation of the Catracho soccer player, who is spending vacations in Honduras, will take place in the press room of the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez stadium on Wednesday, July 5, at 11:30 am Spanish time.
Lozano, 30, trained at Oimpia in Honduras before signing for Valencia in 2011. His first season in Spain he played on loan at Alcoyano in Segunda before returning to Valencia to play for its subsidiary.
From 2015 to 2017 he played for Tenerife and scored 19 goals in two seasons in Segunda, a record that allowed him to play half of the 2017/2018 campaign at Barcelona B. The other half he did at Girona, where he also was the next course.
The last four seasons he wore the colors of Cádiz, from which he leaves after playing 124 official matches and scoring 21 goals. Last season was very poor for ‘Choco’ scoring just a bit (in the 5-1 defeat against Atlético de Madrid on May 3).
Antony Lozano has been international with the Honduras National Team on 42 occasions. He was not called up for the 2023 Gold Cup due to some discomfort he is recovering from before joining Getafe.
