While a surfing contest was being held in Mavericks—a world-famous Northern California surf spot where surfers brave waves up to 60 feet—a cigarette boat owner foolishly decided to take on the massive surf as well.

It didn’t end well.

Pete Koff was filming surfers at Ocean Beach, San Francisco, about 20 miles off the Mavericks coast. The waves were at a “brisk 15 feet.” That’s nowhere near 60 feet, but it’s huge nonetheless.

In the video, the cigarette boat turns into the waves and successfully overcomes a smaller wave, but the next one was, well, see for yourself (with a warning about language):

“That’s two broken legs right there,” you hear a spectator say in the background.

What exactly happened to the occupants in the collision remains unknown, except for the explanation Koff gave with his avenue movies Youtube Channel:

“Super expensive Donzi boat was hot doging on Ocean Beach in San Francisco. This was the Mavericks game weekend and the waves were a solid 15′. I had some friends who were surfing and that’s why I was filming this day.

Captain Booya was drinking and gave the full wheel on the outdoor set. Big air to flat water. Everyone in the boat was injured except the driver. The hull broke in two and the boat still made it to its landing stage in Tiburon.

In the comments section, Koff wrote that “you can see the (landing) splash a little bit”, but “you probably wouldn’t want to see the landing”.

By the way, is the price of a Donzi boat? According to Fern magazinetwo 2020 Donzi models cost $799,000 and $563,500.
