The African Union of Broadcasting (AUB) (www.uar-AUB.org) launches a radio and television programming competition with the aim of developing and raising the level of African and radio production to keep pace with recent developments in the audiovisual field.

The main objectives of the competition:

– Stimulate and incentivize the production process with the professional specifications required by the authorities.

– Share experiences and connect bridges of communication between professionals in the members of authority.

– Enrichment of the program database of the African Union, making it available to members and for marketing on the program markets and various festivals.

– Create a spirit of honorable competition to achieve a distinctive level of African radio and television production.

– Encourage producers to respond to viewer and listener demands to raise levels of cultural and media awareness through their productions.

– Encourage African production that aims to introduce the treasures of Africa to all levels of civilization (cultural, economic, social) without losing sight of contemporary African realities.

The competition takes over all the languages ​​of the Union, namely French, English, Arabic, Portuguese and Swahili.

Conditions for Participation

– Each member of the authority is entitled to participate in only one work (program) in each of the approved program sections of the competition (radio and television);

– The nominated works (programmes) are submitted to the preparatory (admissions) committee to assess whether they meet the required conditions;

– Programs of a propagandistic (or political) nature that do not serve the African good and contradict the aims of the AUB will be excluded from the competition.

Competition Prizes

Financial prizes will be awarded to the three winning programs in the Radio and Television Competition categories according to the following rules:

– First prize: three thousand US dollars ($3000)

– Second prize: two thousand US dollars ($2000)

– Third Prize: One thousand US dollars ($1000)

Categories:

❖ Africa and the challenges of technological transformation in the world

❖ Cancer Control and Hope

❖ Treasures of Africa (including various topics: cultural, economic and tourism)

❖ Violence against women

❖ Radio and peace propagation

Only one program will be selected from each of the five items produced in 2022 and 2023 (the first quarter)

– The enclosed forms must be completed completely and accurately for each study programme.

All forms must be sent to AUB’s Center of Content Exchange before the end of April this year, including the electronic links and video file format to these contest programs.
