Organized criminal groups in the field of narcotics have sophisticated their activity and managed to have more contacts with the countries of origin of cannabis and cocaine.
This is what SPAK head Altin Dumani said today during the hearing at the Law Commission on the progress of the Special Prosecutor’s Office in 2022.
SPAK has increased the investigations, in cooperation with the security institutions of the world, said Dumani.
“SPAK has paid attention to criminal offenses in the field of narcotics. An increase in the sophistication of criminal groups and their interaction is noted. Organized criminal groups in Albania are considered by internationals as influential groups in the world financial markets.
These groups have managed to have direct access to the countries of origin of cannabis and cocaine. There is an increase in investigations being carried out abroad. The number of investigations has increased and the map of collaborations has expanded”.
In his report, presented to the Law Commission, Dumani said that the number of property investigations has also increased.
“Already, the property investigation is carried out, at the end of which it is evident which case will be applied. We have an increase in the number of seizures and confiscations. 10 requests for asset investigations were submitted during 2022 and four subjects were confiscated”.
