NEW DELHI — Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall on India’s Gujarat coast near the Pakistani border late Thursday evening, the Indian weather bureau said, as strong winds and heavy rain battered the two countries’ coastal regions.
“The landing process continues and by midnight it will be completely over land. Part of the eye (of the cyclone) is over the land,” India’s Meteorological Department said in its latest bulletin.
India and Pakistan have evacuated more than 180,000 people from coastal areas ahead of the cyclone. REUTERS
