Dem Colorado governor criticizes Biden for Hunter pardon: ‘Put his household forward of the nation’

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis is accusing President Biden of placing “his household forward of the nation” along with his pardon for Hunter Biden. 

“Whereas as a father I definitely perceive President Joe Biden’s pure need to assist his son by pardoning him, I’m dissatisfied that he put his household forward of the nation,” the Democrat wrote on X. 

“It is a dangerous precedent that could possibly be abused by later Presidents and can sadly tarnish his repute. Once you turn out to be President, your position is Pater familias of the nation,” Polis continued, referencing a Latin time period for head of the family.

Biden’s pardon of Hunter was introduced by the White Home on Sunday evening and comes after Hunter was convicted in two separate federal instances earlier this yr. 

The pardon applies to offenses in opposition to the U.S. that Hunter Biden “has dedicated or could have dedicated” from Jan. 1, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2024.

“Right now, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” Biden wrote in a press release. “From the day I took workplace, I stated I might not intrude with the Justice Division’s decision-making, and I stored my phrase at the same time as I’ve watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”

The president went on to say that his son was “handled otherwise” by prosecutors.
