representative Jamal Bowman (DN.Y.) cried CNN anchor Erin Burnett for “trippin'” with her question Friday about harassing Rep. George Santos (RN.Y.) earlier this week on the steps of the Capitol. (You can see Bowman’s answer below.)
Bowman teamed up with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) trailing Santos and told him he “must go” as the controversial lawmaker spoke to reporters on Wednesday.
Bowman, who is also in a Scream Contest with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), seemed shocked when Burnett asked if he “regretted” the collision.
“When you look at that, do you regret doing that? Because you yelled at him like that? Burnett asked after showing a clip of the exchange with Santos.
“No. Come on. Come on. CNN, you guys are tripping now,” Bowman replied, before declaring that the Republican would have to resign or be removed from his post. about his series of lies and “the laws he is accused of breaking.”
He added: “Is harassment a horrible, bad thing? Is someone teasing? Is friendly banter a terrible thing? Come on, everyone. Everyone needs to lighten up.”
Bowman’s comments come as Santos faces 13 federal charges, including money laundering, banking fraud and unemployment benefit fraud.
He pleaded not guilty to the indictment last week. Santos has refused to step down while several Republicans in his districtwho once called on him to resign his office voted in favour block a vote on the floor of the house looking for his eviction.
