At Km 61.3 of the Chimaltenango bypass, there was a landslide last Sunday, July 23, at 5:30 in the morning, which blocked the lanes heading west.
The cleaning work began on Sunday afternoon by Caminos, who removed an amount of 900 cubic meters of earth, evicting only two lanes.
On the morning of this July 24, Caminos no longer showed up at the site, so a private construction company arrived to support the cleanup work, however, due to heavy rains the work was suspended.
For its part, the Constructora Nacional Sociedad Anónima (Conasa) was not present at the site of the collapse.
Regarding the vehicular traffic reported in the place, the National Civil Traffic Police is in charge of regulating the passage, since a reversible lane was enabled in the section from kilometer 58 to 62
The place where the collapse occurred had already presented other mass movements since October 2019, putting the Mi Especial Tesoro home at risk, according to information from the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred).
