This Friday, February 28, the National Civil Police reported the capture of a man in San Marcos for having committed animal abuse.
The event occurred in the San Juan hamlet, in El Quetzal, San Marcos, when officers from police station number 42 were surprised after seeing how a man dragged a dog with his motorcycle
The captured man, identified as Guadalupe de Jesús Pérez Bautista, 72, was driving a black and blue motorcycle with M109BHG license plates.
In the back of the vehicle he had the animal tied with a black rope. The PNC affirms that the dog was dragged through several streets.
The PNC indicated that the animal was taken to a veterinarian for recovery, due to the injuries it sustained from the incident.
Other cases
This is not the first case of animal abuse that has occurred in the course of 2023. On January 22, a case of dog poisoning that occurred in Quetzaltenango went viral.
In the afternoon of that day, residents of the La Floresta neighborhood, in zone 9 of Xela, noticed that three dogs known by the names “Nucita”, “Loba” and “Negrito”, had died of poisoning.
Another case of animal abuse was on March 24, 2023, where the authorities rescued several dogs and cats in the 19 de Mayo settlement, in zone 6 of the capital city, where they were mistreated and used by a family to ask for money.
These people used images of the dogs to ask for money for their recovery and maintenance; however, the funds they collected were used as family income.
