The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, is on an official visit to Croatia, where he was met by his counterpart Zoran Milanovic.
In the joint press conference after the meeting, Milanovic expressed Croatia’s support in Albania’s journey towards integration into the European Union.
“I express full support, it is important for Albania to become part of the European society. If we don’t help Albania join as soon as possible, then someone else will come to help. This is clear.”
President Begaj said that with his Croatian counterpart, he discussed the economic cooperation between the two countries, including a direct Albania-Croatia airline.
“This is my second visit as president abroad, after that of Kosovo. My visit to Croatia is important in the framework of the relationship between the two countries. We had a long conversation, where the main focus was the further strengthening of bilateral relations. Today, Albanian-Croatian relations are at their best, thanks to the common vision for the Western Balkans.
We shared the belief that much remains to be done in terms of economic cooperation. For a better connection between the two countries, we shared the opinion that there should be a direct airline between the two countries or a port connection”.
