The Division of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday filed a lawsuit towards Oklahoma, difficult a state regulation which imposes legal penalties on unlawful immigrants. 

The DOJ argued that imposing immigration legal guidelines is a federal matter and Oklahoma “can’t disregard the U.S. Structure and settled Supreme Courtroom precedent.” 

Final week, Oklahoma Legal professional Normal Gentner Drummond vowed to uphold the regulation and accused the Biden administration of being “‘dedicated’ to subverting the immigration legal guidelines of this nation.”

“We’ve introduced this motion to make sure that Oklahoma adheres to the Structure and the framework adopted by Congress for regulation of immigration,” Principal Deputy Assistant Legal professional Normal Brian M. Boynton, head of the Justice Division’s Civil Division mentioned in a press release.
