The Flybondi company must exclude two aircraft from its fleet from its operations as of this Wednesday, due to a delay in the authorizations for payment of services abroad, derived from the restrictions that prevail in Argentina to obtain dollars.
The low cost, which has its headquarters in our country, will have to cancel 22 flights and reschedule another 10, both national and international destinations, thus affecting more than 5,500 passengers, as confirmed by Clarín.
This Monday, Flybondi sent a statement to those affected by this situation, in which it explained that, “for reasons beyond the control of the company”, it had to “make operational adjustments”, which imply not only “changes in flight schedules”, but also “ceasing to operate a minor part” of the fleet.
“There are currently official measures that are restrictive for companies that need access to foreign currency to make payments abroad. At Flybondi we hire several specialized services outside and that are paid in dollars. In order to do so, we must periodically request authorization, but in the last two months we have not received the approvals,” the company developed in the same text.
Faced with this scenario, the firm explained that given the impossibility of accessing foreign currency, it began to present “non-compliance with payments” and mentioned that “the most critical is the lease of aircraft.”
The debt, according to Flybondi sources, “is with all the lessors”, as aircraft lessors are called. “For now, one of them asked not to operate their planes,” they assured this medium.
