Spain’s defense ministry says an F-18 fighter jet crashed into an airbase in the Spanish city of Zaragoza, but the pilot ejected successfully
LONDON — An F-18 fighter jet crashed into an airbase in the Spanish city of Zaragoza, but the pilot was successfully shot down, Spain’s defense ministry said on Saturday.
The plane landed within the perimeter of the base, the Defense Ministry said on Twitter.
The base, located about 10 miles outside the city, is owned by the Spanish Air and Space Force.
Videos posted to social media showed a plane falling to the ground in flames.
The pilot was already in hospital and his life was not in danger, the air force said.
