Ile aux Aigrettes – Ile aux Aigrettes- A small coral island just off the coast of the town of Mahebourg is a conservation area protected by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. The island is home to the world’s rarest bird, the kestrel, Pink Pigeon. The extremely rare Green Gecko Phelsuma and the Aldabra Giant Tortoise can also be seen here.
Grand Bassin- A lake located in a remote mountain area in Savannah district is very popular among the major holiday destinations in Mauritius. The Grand Bassin is a sacred lakeside Hindu community as they make a pilgrimage on the Maha Sivaratri / “Siva’s Great Night” every year.
Mauritius Botanical Garden – The Botanical Garden is also known as Pamplemonsses Garden and SSR Botanical Garden. Pamplemonsses is located near Port Louis and is the oldest botanical garden in the southern hemisphere. Giant water lilies, 85 species of palms and herb garden and unique tourist destination in Mauritius.
