Everything was closed in the previous hours, but now comes the official announcement from the Bayer Leverkusen club.
Granit Xhaka is the youngest player of “Aspirinave”, as the midfielder of Albanian origin returns to the Bundesliga after seven years at Arsenal in London, where in the past he had an experience with Borussia Moenchagladbach. Leverkusen paid 25 million euros for the services of the 30-year-old with Xhaka signing a contract valid until 2028. In his first words as a Leverkusen player, Xhaka emphasized the fact that he knows the German championship very well.
“I know this championship in detail, I followed it even when I was in London. Bayer Leverkusen is a club with an impressive history and a lot of ambition. Above all, I see Leverkusen as a club with a lot of future and the discussions with the managers were very motivating. Everyone here at the club is very ambitious and I’m looking forward to playing here in the coming years,” said Xhaka.
On the other hand, the sporting director of the Germans, Simon Rolfes, also spoke about this transfer, saying that there are few players with Granit Xhaka’s mentality.
“With this agreement, we secured a “top player” like Granit Xhaka. Everyone knows his ability on the field, but above all there are few players who manage to become a leader and lead a team like he does. This comes from the mentality and the fact that Xhaka is a born leader”, said Rolfes./SuperSport
