A fifth group of migrants, transported by buses from Brownsville, Texas, arrived in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday as the Lone Star State continues to move migrants to major US cities.

About 48 migrants, including 18 minors, arrived in downtown Los Angeles late Saturday morning, Mayor Karen Bass’s office said, according to Fox 11. The two buses arrived at Union Station around 11:30 a.m.

“The city has continued to work with city departments, the county and a coalition of nonprofits, in addition to our partners of faith, to implement a plan established earlier this year,” Bass’s office said in a statement. “As we have done before, when we discovered the bus yesterday, we activated our plan.”

The migrants were transported to Cathedral High School after arriving at Union Station. After the migrants were brought to the school, they were assessed for medical problems, fed and given access to any other resources they needed, the Los Angeles Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights told ABC 7. The group said most of the migrants have since been reunited with family.

Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott has claimed responsibility for the migrant moves. Texas last year began sending buses of migrants to several host cities, including New York City, Chicago and Washington, DC. The leaders of these cities, who had pledged to protect illegal immigrants and not enforce federal immigration laws, have said in recent months that they lack the resources to take in more migrants

Abbott has previously said that Texas will continue to move migrants into these cities until the federal government resolves the immigration crisis at the US-Mexico border.
