Los Angeles firefighters responded early Saturday to a garage fire in the Fairfax neighborhood that burned two vehicles inside in what is the latest of a string of blazes in the area in recent weeks.
Firefighters who arrived at the 400 block of North Curson Avenue around 2 a.m. found the vehicles ablaze in the single-story garage, said Margaret Stewart, an LAFD spokesperson. There were no injuries and the vehicles can be considered a total loss.
The department’s arson unit is investigating several incidents involving vehicles, apartment gates and old furniture recently set on fire in the area. according to KTLA. said the news channel the fire on Curson Avenue forced evacuations of nearby apartments.
Stewart said police also responded to a pickup that was on fire at 5:22 a.m. Wednesday in the 260 block of South Orange Drive. She was unable to confirm reports that the fires, which were about a mile apart, may have been related to or are being investigated for possible arson.
