PAGOH – The price of goods is now more expensive due to the depreciation of the ringgit, says chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN) and former Malaysian prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
“Other currencies are strengthening, but our ringgit value is declining, causing the prices of goods such as a kilogram of meat to spike,” he added.
Mr Muhyiddin, who is also a Pagoh MP, said this in his speech before handing over 52 cows to villages under his constituency in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrations in Bukit Pasir on Saturday.
He said that although the government of national unity has now been in power for more than six months, no improvement has been made to help the people.
“Some say they (unity government) are new and should be given 100 days to see improvement, but it’s been over 200 days,” he added.
Mr Muhyiddin said people are still facing hardship and the government has not made any concrete attempt to control the prices of goods. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
