According to search warrants, she admitted to stealing prescription drugs, specifically hydrocodone, from a garbage box at the police station.

A former southwestern Michigan police chief has been charged on nine counts with stealing and selling prescription opioids from her precinct’s drop box.

Beltran knew charges were coming and “underwent extensive (drug) treatment,” attorney Don Sappanos said.

“She has her problem under control,” Sappanos told a judge.
