Chief Socialist Edi Rama, after Fredi Beleri’s statements about the Hellenism of Himara, has expressed himself harshly and whipping him in recent days during the electoral meetings.
Edi Rama did not use and comment on Beler’s arrest under the suspicion of vote-buying as an event to rub his hands. He requested that justice should have the last word, stressing the need for non-politicization of this event.
“The arrest of the opposition candidate for Himara, Fredi Beleri, by order of the prosecutor’s office, constitutes a great test for justice on the eve of the elections, which means that his violation of the law must be proven and his arrest legally motivated “, writes Rama.
Edi Rama asks that justice be left alone and not be influenced in this case.
“Our battle with that candidate has nothing to do with the investigations or the conclusions of the prosecutor’s office, therefore, respecting the complete independence of the judicial bodies, I call on everyone not to rush to political conclusions and wait patiently for the word and evidence of justice”. says the prime minister.
Sali Berisha also reacted, who blessed and supported Fredi Beleri’s candidacy as a candidate in Himare.
“It is a blind political action, a blind political revenge by Edi Rama against an opposition candidate with manipulations, with the engagement of a manipulator and former collaborator of the gangs, who today leads the Police of Vlora and whose name is, make no mistake, Ermal Muça . He was a collaborator with Shullazi’s gang and other gangs, and I condemn the act, the violence against the opposition representative, just as I condemn every act of buying and selling votes wherever this happened”.
Therefore, the head of the PBDNJ, Vangjel Dule reacted from Himara, politicizing the case without justice speaking yet.
It is a phenomenon related to totalitarian regimes. Our call is to release Mr. Beleri and guarantee the electoral process and give up once and for all the intimidation of citizens and the attempt to alienate the will of the sovereign”.
The reaction of Athens through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was immediate, which states that “After the news of the arrest by the Albanian authorities of Dionisis Fredi Beleris, candidate for mayor in Himare Municipality, the ambassador of Greece in Tirana Konstantina Kamitsi following the instructions of the foreign minister Nikos Dendias, is conducting a visit today, May 12, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania.
The head of Greek diplomacy Nicos Dendias himself made this comment.

Athens’ strong reactions to Fredi Beleri’s detention included Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“I call on the Albanian authorities to immediately release the candidate in question to return to the electoral process. I want to send a message from Lesbos to our friend, Albania. Tolerance for the rule of law and the protection of the rights of the Greek national minority Greece will not accept. If Albania wants to get closer to the European Union, it has the obligation to ensure free and fair municipal elections and immediately release those it has imprisoned, so that they can participate in the electoral process”.
