The African Chamber of Energy will host an economic meeting in Johannesburg on Thursday with the Russian energy company.gazpromwhich brings together Egypt and 12 other African and Maghreb countries to discuss natural gas issues and its impact on the African continent as a whole.
The meeting in South Africa will feature leading representatives of the energy industry, government and business experts, along with media coverage, including from “Al-Masry Al-Youm”.
Participating countries including EgyptAlgeria, Morocco, Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania and Guinea.
The Russian-African Partnership stresses the importance of gas’s crucial role in promoting economic development, especially now that Africa has gas reserves of approximately 620 trillion cubic feet.
Energy experts explore innovative strategies, share best practices and shape the future of Africa’s gas sector.
Africa believes that gas plays a vital role in ensuring energy security and supporting the energy transition.
It also serves as an important element in the energy landscape in Africa as many African countries have become gas producers with Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria leading the way in producing gas to diversify the energy mix along with the production of oil.
Mozambique has also made waves in the gas industry with its offshore discoveries,
Gazprom, a Russian energy and gas giantstated that the cooperation with the African Energy Chamber is a milestone in the gas industry in Africa.
The company has a wealth of experience in various aspects of the energy sector, including exploration, and its participation extends to the generation and marketing of thermal and electrical energy.
This collaboration is aimed at unleashing the enormous potential of the gas industry in Africa and promoting economic and sustainable development and energy security.
It also focuses on geological exploration, production, transportation, storage, processing and sale of gas, gas condensate and oil, and sale of gas as fuel for vehicles, as well as generation and marketing of heat and power.
At the meeting, the South African Department of Energy will participate to discuss gas infrastructure expansion, gas generation offers and the use of natural gas as a motor fuel.
A presentation on liquefied natural gas will also be given during the talks, highlighting Gazprom’s expertise in this area.
And there will be discussions about the benefits of using natural gas to improve the quality of life and the economy, and the role of natural gas in securing energy and environmental security.
