The Catholic believers with candles in their hands were this Good Friday evening in the “Mother Teresa” square in the precession led by the Archbishop of the Diocese of Tirana Durrës, Arjan Dodaj together with the Ambassador of the Holy See of the Vatican in Albania, Lugi Bonazzi.

Believers demonstrate the sufferings of Jesus Christ who condemned him and carried the cross on his back until the end of the journey when he gave up his soul and rose again on Easter Sunday. Dozens of believers walk the path of Christ’s Passion, some of them carrying heavy wooden crosses. The Way of the Cross was described following the 14 Stations of the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Good Friday, or Black Friday, is the day when Christ’s suffering and death are remembered, Easter is the celebration of his Resurrection from the dead. The so-called “mourning week” begins with the preceding Sunday and is the most important week in the church calendar.
